The service

Country Shield provides tools for Shopify merchants to configure and enforce storefront access rules using available geographic and network signals. The merchant remains responsible for the policy they configure, the markets they serve, and compliance with applicable law.

Merchant responsibilities

• Maintain an authorized Shopify account and accurate store information.
• Protect access to the Shopify admin and any Cloudflare credentials supplied to Country Shield.
• Test denylist, allowlist, redirect, challenge, checkout, and strict-mode behavior before relying on it.
• Maintain a reasonable way for legitimate customers to contact the merchant when storefront access is restricted.

Plans and billing

Country Shield plans and app charges are handled through Shopify. Prices, trial periods, billing intervals, and usage charges shown on Shopify's approval screen control the charge. Merchants may change available plans through Shopify's hosted plan-selection flow.

Premium anonymous-traffic controls require a separately licensed data provider. The app displays whether that capability is connected.

Acceptable use

Merchants may not use Country Shield to violate law, unlawfully discriminate, evade sanctions or platform requirements, attack or probe systems, interfere with another merchant, or misrepresent Country Shield decisions as government or law-enforcement determinations.

Availability and accuracy

Internet geolocation and network classification are probabilistic. Mobile carriers, corporate networks, VPNs, proxies, and changing IP allocations can affect results. Country Shield does not guarantee that every visitor will be classified correctly or that every unwanted request will be blocked.

The storefront extension is designed to fail open after a short timeout if the decision service is unavailable. Cloudflare enforcement is optional and depends on the merchant's Cloudflare configuration.

Disclaimers and limitation

To the extent permitted by law, Country Shield is provided without warranties of uninterrupted operation, merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or error-free classification. Country Shield is not a substitute for legal, sanctions, fraud, cybersecurity, or compliance advice.

To the extent permitted by law, liability arising from the service is limited to the fees paid for Country Shield during the three months preceding the event giving rise to the claim.

Termination and changes

Merchants may stop using Country Shield by uninstalling the app and ending paid plans through Shopify. Country Shield may suspend access for abuse, security risk, nonpayment, or violation of these terms. Material terms changes will be posted with a new effective date.
